This post may be a little too much inside baseball stuff regarding the Cincinnati beer blogging community for some tastes, but so be it. A change is happening that deserves mention and acknowledgement. No matter what the topic, no blog can ever claim to be a one-stop-shop for all your informational needs. If you think you’ve found one, you’re doing it wrong. Beer in Cincinnati is the same way. Here at Hoperatives we do what we do and people in town have been gracious enough to keep reading us. We are not, however, the only game in town. And we don’t want to be.
Josh Osborne founded Queen City Drinks in early 2012 as a blog devoted to the beer, spirits and wine scene here in Cincinnati. He was a one-man-band for a while, but began adding contributors after a few months, most notably Tom Aguero and Ginny Tonic. It’s hard to believe it’s only been going since basically the first Cincinnati Beer Week because it’s now a staple. If you’re not reading them, you ought to be.
Josh announced today that he’s stepping aside from the site because he’s relocating to another city. It’s been a tough few months for him, and while it sucks that he’s having to leave town, at least there’s some resolution to the limbo his wife and daughter have been in. This blogging thing is nice, but you’ve got to pay the bills. Luckily, Tom Aguero has agreed to take over the site and keep it going. That’s great news. Tom’s a talented guy and Josh is leaving his (other, non-sentient) baby in good hands.
So from all of us here at Hoperatives, best of luck Josh! We hear there’s good beer in Michigan. And thanks for all you’ve done to make Cincinnati a better beer town.
