We don’t have a lot of information on this — just a press release from New Belgium — but it looks like the days of driving over to Indiana to get your Fat Tire or Lips of Faith fix are coming to end. Unless you live in Indiana. In that case, carry on!
For the rest of of us, though, New Belgium has announced that Ohio will be its 35th state in which it distributes. The press release mentions 22-oz Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, the seasonal Accumulation IPA, and (unspecified) Lips of Faith beers in the initial allotment. It sounds like draft will be limited at first. If I’m reading the release right, Stagnaro will handle them in the Cincinnati market and Heidelberg will be handling distribution in the Dayton area.
What’s interesting is that New Belgium added enough capacity in their Ft. Collins, CO brewery to support coming into Ohio. They haven’t broken ground on the brewery in Asheville, NC yet, so I think it’s pretty much a slam-dunk that you’re going to see New Belgium as a 50-state beer before it’s all over.
