Upcoming Beer Events for January and Beyond

As the 2010 Hopslam Release event is in full swing at Bistro JeanRo right now, we wanted to point out some other great beer events that are coming up this month and beyond:

Thursday, January 7th at 6:00 p.m. – Perpetual Burn IPA Mug Club Tapping at Rock Bottom
Yay! IPA! We’ll be there. Will you?

Friday, January 15th at 7:00 p.m. – Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head Collaboration tasting at Jungle Jim’s
According to the Dogfish Head web site, “Life & Limb is a 10% ABV strong, dark beer that defies style characteristics- brewed with pure maple syrup from the Calagione family farm in Massachusetts and estate barley grown on the Grossman “farm” at the brewery in Chico, CA. The beer is alive with yeast-a blend of both breweries’ house strains-bottle conditioned for added complexity and shelf life, and naturally carbonated with birch syrup fresh from Alaska.” Cost: $25 per person. Go to http://www.junglejims.com/events/tastings.asp for more information.

Saturday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. – Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest at Hyatt Regency Cincinnati
Tom and I are so sad that we’re going to have to miss this great event this event. There’s a new location, over 125 beers and great blues music for a great blues cause. We highly recommend getting a room at the Hyatt at the BEERFEST rate. We want you all around for future beer events! We just found out that this year’s festival is being co-sponsored by Rock Bottom and Party Source. For more information, go to http://www.cincybeerfest.com/.

Looking beyond this month:

Thursday, February 11th at 6:00 p.m. – The Slammer K-9 Unit Mug Club Tapping at Rock Bottom
When we first saw the name of this name, it made us scratch our heads. Then we found out why. In the tradition of their annual Fire Chief Ale tappings, this is a fundraiser tapping where a portion of the proceeds of this beer will be donated toward future purchaces of vests, kennels, and other K-9 related police equipment. In addition to the great beer, there will be an opportunity to interact with K-9 police dogs, their handlers, and local dog trainers. Rock Bottom will also be hosting a silent auction where one of the item available is an entire keg of the K-9 Unit Slammer. Sounds like fun! I know we’re going to be there.

Saturday, February 20th – Lucky 13 Annual Cincinnati Malt Infusers Pub Crawl
From the CMI web site: “The infamous CMI Pub Crawl is scheduled for Saturday, February 20th from 12:00pm until 8:?? The plan is simple-to safely bus everyone in mass to some of the best spots in the area for great craft beer and fun! This is the thirteenth year for this great event. It includes a t-shirt, some special items, and special craft beers. The locations we are going to are: ROCK BOTTOM, MECKLENBERG GARDENS, THE COMET, MAYDAY and GRAMMER’S. For more information, go to the Cincinnati Malt Infusers web site.

Even more great beer events are coming including a special Hoperatives Happening!

Cheers and here’s to better beer!

Carla and Tom

I can hopefully provide a report from the Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest, and I know some of our other Hoperatives will be there as well! With that much beer, though, live blogging would probably be a BAD idea. :)
