Arnold’s Vs. Cappy’s Chomolungma Day Challenge 2017

May 23

From Facebook:

Arnold’s and Cappy’s have chosen to challenge each other to the Chomolungma Death. Ok Not really. They have really however challanged each other to see who can raise the most money for Lungevity, a lung cancer focused non-profit. Both Cappy’s and Arnold’s will be donating $1 for every pint of Chomlungma and it’s variants on Tuesday 5/23/17. It’s a challenge so there has to be a price to pay. Whoever loses the challenge will have to wear the others T-shirts for an entire weekend this summer. Be sure to come out to help whichever is your favorite establishment raise money for charity and save them from having to wear the others T-shirts all weekend.

What is Chomalungma Day?
Chomolungma is not only one of Jackie O’s staple core beers, but it holds an endearing story behind it. About three weeks after Art Oestrike bought O’Hooley’s Pub in Athens, OH, Arts mother, Jackie Oestrike, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She passed six months later, but not before knowing that the bar would eventually be named in her honor, Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery. This brown ale was first brewed to commemorate the Lungevity Everest Expedition, a quest by Brian Oestrike, brother of Jackie O’s Owner Art Oestrike, to summit Mt. Everest in honor of their mother. Brian Oestrike summitted the unforgiving mountain on May 23nd, 2007. The people of Tibet call Mt. Everest “Chomolungma” (also translated to mean Goddess mother of the Earth) & this exceptional ale carries on the spirit of the climb, and the true meaning of family.
