Party Source – $1 beer tastings on Saturday from 12:00-1:00 pm.

Party Town – For Friday Night Flights this week from 5:30-7:00 pm, they’re pouring from Stone. It’s $2.00 for the regular sample flights. Only adults age 21 or more are admitted for Friday Night Flights. Limit of one sample per person. No shopping carts in the back room please.

Ei8ht Ball Brewing – Tonight is Free Bacon Night. They will be tapping Stillwater I Miss the Old Kanye. Cost is $7 for a thirteen ounce tulip.

Findlay Market Bier Market – This weekend, they will have beers from Taft’s Ale House including Masskrug Oktoberfest Marzen and Preservationist Pale Ale.

HAPPY GRAND OPENING TO DARKNESS BREWING! – While they have been open serving other breweries’ beers, this Saturday starting at 2:00 pm, you can finally enjoy a Darkness beer on draft. Live music and a taco truck too.

Ohio Hop Growers Guild Hopyard Open House – Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Check out their Facebook event page for more information.

2nd Annual Beer Olympics/strong – Saturday at Ei8ht Ball and presented by Ei8ht Ball Brewing, New Belgium, Kentucky Ale, Mad Tree and Braxton. – Signups are from noon-1pm and the Olympics are from 1:00-4:00 pm. For more information, go to their Facebook event page.

Municipal Brew Works – Tapping their first seasonal today at 4:00 pm. Woltermelon Blonde Ale is their flagship Approachable Blonde infused with real watermelons. It’s their tribute to summer and to Patrick Wolterman who lost his life while doing his job as a Hamilton Fire Fighter. “His family explained to [the brewery] that Patrick became a fan of a watermelon flavored beer at a Hamilton Fire Department summer picnic.”

Rhinegeist – Lumenocity Glow Launch Party today starting at 8:00 pm.

Down the River with Upland Brewing – This two-night event starts at Cappy’s Wine and Spirits Friday night 5:00-10:00 pm with the famous Peanut from Ei8ht Ball starting the bartender swap. Then on Saturday night beginning at 12:00 noon head to Ei8ht Ball as Sara Levin from Cappy’s finishes the bartender swap. Both nights you can enjoy Thunderbird Wings from Nashville with your Upland beers.

Wiedemann’s – At the Findlay Market this weekend. Friday 4:00-8:00 pm; Saturday 11:00 am-8:00 pm; and Sunday 11:00 am-5:00 pm.

Beer Ed Classes This Summer at the OTR Biergarten

We got news this morning that our friend Lindsay Bohanske who owns the Love Beer Love Food website will be teaching classes on beer and food pairing at the OTR Biergarten in Findlay Market. Lindsay, who is a Certifed Cicerone®, will be be teaching the hour long classes once a month through out the summer.

Each class will include a three course tasting flight paired with local beers. The classes are small (only 25 seats) so you will be able to ask questions while you learn about some of the breweries here in the Ohio Valley. May will feature MadTree and June will feature Christian Moerlein. The classes in May, June, August and September are from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

July will be a bit different with two special edition “Smokin’ Hot BBQ” classes on Saturday evening at Findlay Market (6:00 and 8:00 pm). Participants will sample one beer each for four different breweries and they will be paired with an appetizer, two types of BBQ and a dessert.

The September Beer Ed class will be held in conjunction with MidPoint Music Festival and will feature beers from Fifty West.

The cost for the May, June, August and September classes is $20 per person plus a $2.09 booking fee and you get to keep your glass. Findlay Market Hosts Craft Beer Series All Summer

We’re happy to announce that Findlay Market and the OTR Biergarten will be hosting a Craft Beer Series – a celebration of local craft beer, with guest taps by different local craft breweries every third weekend of the month all summer long.

In addition to the regular selection of Moerlein and Hudepohl beers, you’ll be able to check out some of our region’s growing number of microbreweries.
The line-up of local brewers include:
Madtree on May 18-19 (during American Craft Beer Week!)
Listermann/Triple Digit on June 15-16
Blank Slate on July 20-21
