Tastings and Tappings Report: Jan. 13, 2017

TASTINGS

Jungle Jim’s – Friday night tasting from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at both locations. Pints are usually $3. This week, they are pouring beers from Avery at Fairfield and from Lagunitas at Eastgate.

Party Source – $1 beer tastings on Saturday from 12:00-1:00 pm.

Party Town – For Friday Night Flights this week from 5:30-7:00 pm, they’re pouring from a brewery yet to be named. It’s $2.00 for the regular sample flights. Only adults age 21 or more are admitted for Friday Night Flights. Limit of one sample per person. No shopping carts in the back room please.

TAPPINGS, PINT NIGHTS and RELEASES

BC’s Bottle Lodge – Tree Booty Friday at 6:00 pm is a beer battle between MadTree vs. Heavy Seas. Beers include Chocodile Tears, Black Forest, (Fresh) Rubus Cacao and Rum Barrel Pumpcan from MadTree and Pounder Pils, Loose Cannon, 20 Year Storm and Siren Noire from Heavy Seas.

Ei8ht Ball Brewing – Tonight is Free Bacon Night and they will be pouring De Molen Cuvee number 5. Price is $12 For a ten ounce snifter.

Keystone Bar and Grill (Covington) – Bell’s Hopslam Brunch Sunday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Besides Hopslam, they will also have Bell’s Amber Ale, Winter White Ale, and Two-Hearted.

This week, it’s De Struise Black Albert Imperial Stout.

Monday, June 20th at 6:00 pm – Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration Launch Party at Rhinegeist
Meet the brewers (New Belgium’s Master Brewer Peter Bouckaer and Rhinegeist’s Head Brewer Jim Matt), enjoy rarity tappings (6:30pm and 7:30pm), live DJ sets, and promotional giveaways from both breweries, including one of New Belgium’s coveted, special edition cruiser bikes.

Tastings and Tapping and FESTIVALS Report: Sept. 25, 2015

We frequently get updates for our Tastings and Tappings Report after our regular publishing time. Any edited listing will have UPDATE at the beginning of the listing. Don’t forget to check out our This Week in Beer post from Monday for other better beer events happening this weekend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLD FIREHOUSE BREWERY! Check out their anniversary party and street festival tomorrow (9/26). It includes High Noon Pints (buy a pint, keep the tulip glass – 100 available) plus they will be tapping two limited release beer at 6:00 pm: Old Ale and Tart Cherry Wheat.

FESTIVALS

Fort Thomas Merchants and Music – For the 12th version of this event at Tower Park, they are adding a beer garden featuring special tappings from West Sixth every hour on the hour. The schedule is Heller or Heaven Double IPA at 2:00 pm, Milk Stout at 3:00 pm, Cream Ale at 4:00 pm and Belgian Dubbel at 5:00 pm. In addition, West Sixth Kinnoconik Kolsch will be available at all the beer locations throughout the festival along with their Dankechain Oktoberfest, Amber, Lemongrass Wheat and IPA.

TASTINGS

Everything’s d’ Vine – Tasting is at 5:30 pm each week and costs $10 for beer and wine tastings. You can get just beer or just wine for $5.00. The beers for this week’s tasting are Dogfish Head Punkin, Ballast Point Grunion, Fat Head’s Hop Fro and Stone Delicious.

Jungle Jim’s – Friday night tasting from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at both locations. Pints are usually $3. This week, they are pouring beers from Long Trail Brewing in Fairfield and Victory Brewery in Eastgate.

Ludlow Wines – Saturday beer tasting is from 5:00-8:00 pm. The cost to taste four beers is $6.00 per person.

Party Town – In honor of their 15th anniversary, Parkers is having a Tap Takeover on Saturday, Sept. 26th. Beers include MadTree Galaxy High, Happy Amber, Gnarly Brown and Great PumpCan plus Urban Artifact Cauldron and Finn.

Party Town – For Friday Night Flights this week from 5:30-7:00 pm, it’s beers from Bell’s Brewing in honor of their 30th anniversary. Beers include Boiling Point, Mango Habenero Oberon, Hell Hath No Fury, Octoberfest, Oracle, Bell’s 30th Anniversary Imperial Stout and more. The cost for the flight is $2.00 per person. A nine ounce pour is $3. Only adults age 21 or more are admitted for Friday Night Flights. Limit of one sample per person. No shopping carts in the back room please.

Whole Foods Cincinnati – Cask & Cork: Beer and Wine every Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. For $5, you get five sips and six bites. Tickets sold until 6:30 pm.

TASTINGS

Country Fresh Farm Market and Wine Depot – Moerlein Beer Tasting from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Everything’s d’ Vine – Tasting is at 5:30 pm each week and costs $10 for beer and wine tastings. You can get just beer or just wine for $5.00. The beers for this week’s tasting (9/4) are Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat, Revolution Oktoberfest, MadTree PsycHOPathy and Stone Thunderstruck IPA.

Jungle Jim’s – Friday night tasting from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at both locations. Pints are usually $3. This week, they are pouring beers from Heavy Seas in Fairfield and SweetWater in Eastgate.

Ludlow Wines – Saturday beer tasting is from 5:00-8:00 pm. The cost to taste four beers is $6.00 per person.

Party Town – For Friday Night Flights this week (9/4) from 5:30-7:00 pm, it’s beers from Bell’s, West Sixth, Schlafly, Sixpoint, Dark Horse, Deschutes and Southern Tier. The draft by the glass pour will be Founders latest “Back Stage Series” Redankulous Double IPA for $3.00. The cost for the flight is $2.00 per person. Oktoberfest Tapping and Stein Hoisting Competition at Taft’s Ale House

Friday, August 28th at 3:00 pm – Bad Tom Smith Brewing Tap Room Grand Re-opening
Bad Tom Smith celebrates the remodeling of its taproom with a weekend-long event. Improvements to the taproom include:

  • New standing tables and barstools for the bar
  • A new 60″ TV as well as a 42″ screen for sporting events
  • A new serving bar
  • remodeled bathrooms
  • new merchandise area

The event starts on Friday and runs until 11pm. Saturday hours are 12-11pm and Sunday hours are 12 – 6pm. Bad Tom Smith Brewing’s taproom is at 4720 Eastern Avenue in Cincinnati. More information is available at their website or Facebook page.

Saturday, August 29th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 am – MadTree Summer Bonanza
The warmer weather version of the annual Winter Bonanza. More information available on their Facebook event page. They are asking that attendees park at Fifth Third (5001 Kingsley Drive, 45227) or MedPace (5375 MedPace Way, 45227) and take the shuttle running from noon until 1:00 am. There will be very limited parking at MadTree.

Cost varies by beer.

– For Saturday’s Randall Saturday (7/18), it’s Evil Twin Freudian Slip Barleywine through cherries. Cost is $7 for a ten ounce snifter.

– For next week’s Rare Keg Monday (7/20), it’s Grimm Telekinesis Dry-Hopped Sour. Cost is $10 for a thirteen ounce tulip.
