Shadowbox Caberet: Good Times and Goose Island

If you have not been to the Shadowbox then you are missing out on one of the regions truly unique experiences.

To quote their website Shadowbox is:

“Shadowbox, the sketch comedy and rock ‘n’ roll club, delivers a high-energy mix of outrageous original sketch comedy and live rock ‘n’ roll music every Thursday through Saturday year-round. The unique and often surprising entertainment experience is complimented by a bistro-style menu and full bar which are available before the show and at intermission, and are prepared and served by the performers in our warehouse environment. Shadowbox’s brand of irreverent sketch comedy and rock n’ roll appeals to the instinct and emotion of the broadest of audiences. Shadowbox: It’s what you need!”

The food is good and the beer selection contains your all American staples along with at least one microbrew. They used to have Red Hook but are now offering Goose Island Honkers Ale which in my book more than suffices as good beer. If you have guests with you who prefer sweet fruity drinks be sure to grab a pitch of “The Freak” a house cocktail that never disappoints.

Shadowbox is located in Newport at the Levee. The band is awesome, the comedy riotous, the food delicious, and the drinks are cold. In fact the only thing that might improve this already amazing evening would be some local beer on tap. Now maybe I’m just thinking out loud because I’m writing for a beer blog, but a little mutual local love between shadowbox and oh lets say Barrel House Brewery might just be something worth looking into. I’m just throwing it out there.
