This Week in Bockfest: March 4-7, 2021

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Cincinnati: Bockfest! While things will be different this year, the great tradition of goats and bock beers will continue in the Queen City for the 29th time. Remember that reservations are highly recommended (if not required) for all of these events.

Here are some of the highlights of Bockfest 2021:

All weekend at Fibonacci Brewing – New Baby Goat!
Fibonacci has a new baby goat named Buttercup and two bock beers named for two of their goats. Buttercup’s namesake beer is a Dunkles Bock and the other beer is a New Riff rye whiskey barrel-aged Dopplebock named Honey after another resident goat.

Sign Up for the Hoperatives Better Beer Events List

If you’ve experienced it before, you know that Cincinnati Beer Week is huge. For that very reason, last year we created a special Hoperatives Better Beer Events List. By signing up for this list, you will have a list of that day’s Cincinnati Beer Week events emailed to you each morning. (And you’ll receive that information earlier than it’s posted on the Hoperatives website.) We also use this list to send out information for Bockfest daily events too.

Please note that this is different from our weekly Sunday newsletter so if you signed up for that one, you will need to sign up again. (If you need to sign up for the weekly Sunday newsletter, use the form in the right hand column or just go to http://eepurl.com/LNpJT. ) As always, we promised to not share your contact information with anyone else (which is more than many department stores and insurance companies can say nowadays).

Upcoming February Beer Events

As a recent article on SoapBox Cincinnati pointed out, we have entered Beer Season in Cincinnati. While the late August to mid-October local Oktoberfest season is also full of beer events, the combination of Cincy Winter Beerfest, Cincinnati Beer Week and Bockfest make February and early March pretty damn awesome.

To get you ready for all of the beer events ahead, we’ve created this list for you to use starting with Feb. 9th. While we will refer back to these events on our usual This Week in Beer posts each Monday, we wanted you to be able to let you plan your strategy for the weeks ahead.

Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th – Cincinnati Winter Beerfest
It’s the big granddaddy of beer events in Cincinnati. Take our advice and buy your tickets for Friday night (to avoid much larger crowds). Also, buy them NOW especially if you want the Connoisseurs Package. Those tickets always sell out.

Friday, February 13th – Hops vs Vines Showdown at Marty’s Hops & Vines
Goose Island Vintage Series including Sofie (aged in Chardonnay barrels), Halia (aged in White Wine barrels) and Lolita (aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels) versus Gerard Bertrand Chardonnay, LaClape and Picpoul. Cost is $20 per person and includes specially prepared food pairings. Call 513-681-4222 for reservations.

Friday, February 13th through Sunday, February 22nd – Cincinnati Beer Week
As we’ve mentioned before, this year the Cincy Winter Beerfest kicks off the Cincinnati Beer Week rather than wrapping it up. Just like last year, we will be posting each day’s with a special Cincinnati Beer Week Events post each day. To have them emailed to you the night before, just sign up for our Beer Events newsletter.

Saturday, February 14th at 1:00 pm – Splinterfest at Moerlein Lager House
The Lager House hosts their 3rd annual celebration of barrel aged beers and as usual, flights will be available. Some of the beers to be included are Christian Moerlein Fredrick’s Reserve, Innis & Gunn Rum Oak Aged Beer, New Holland Oak Aged Hatter, Listermann Cranium, Dogfish Head Burton Baton, Wyders Reposado Aged Pear and beers from Rivertown, Flat 12 and New Belgium.

Sunday, February 15th – Beer & Babes Event and Brew Day at Fifty West
It “starts at 11:30 with a brunch buffet and then is followed with a special collaboration brew among the women involved.”
