BREW HA HA 2009: 50 Comedians. 80 Beers. 1 Million Laughs!

I had never had the pleasure of attending this event in the past but was fortunate enough to find out about it and attend on the last night of the event. This post would have come earlier, however I misplaced my notes from the event and just stumbled upon them. (Although in hindsight it was probably the stumbling after the event that caused me to lose them in the first place)

What I envisioned and what I found when I arrived were completely different.  I figured it would be a small personable gathering with several hundred people enjoying great comedy and great beer. What I found was many thousands of people enjoying great beer and great comedy. We arrived late and wandered between the comedy stages sipping beer, but it was the last night and they ran out of many beers. I think the best plan of action for next year will be to head down early and bring some lunch, some lawn chairs, and a Frisbee. It would make for a great evening of drinking and enjoying the comedy.

It was $6 to park, 5$ for a drinking bracelet, and $1 for a beer ticket. One beer ticket was good for a four-ounce sample and four tickets got you a full 16 oz beer.

I had samples from Barrel House, Mt. Carmel, Founders, Bear Republic, Troegs, and Avery Brewery. Everything I tasted was good. A few brews that stood out were Founder’s Red’s Rye PA, Mt. Carmel Nut Brown Ale, Bear Republic XP Pale Ale, and Avery’s Collaboration not Litigation.

You can check out the list of Breweries and Beers Here.

I had a great time and plan on having a better time next year. This is definitely an event you should check out if you get a chance.  It might even make a great place for a Hoperatives Happening next year.
