This past weekend, we attended WordCamp Columbus / PodCamp Ohio where we gave a session on building an online community. Being us, we also did some beer research while we were there. Our time was limited so we couldn’t go everywhere we wanted. Our first stop turned out to be a not-so-good choice so we were determined to make a better second choice. When we mentioned beer in Columbus, one place was recommended over and over: Bodega Cafe and Carryout. Located at 1044 N. High St in the Short North area, their menu features items like tandoori chicken pizza, a smoked salmon panini, grilled cheese Mondays and, oh yeah, lots of very fine beer. As usual, we chose to sit at the bar. It’s the best way to talk beer with the bartenders and Bodega has some great ones like Jeff!

Bodega has 50, yes, 50 taps. The majority of them are mounted low below the bar.
Notice that the TVs are projected on the wall instead of a screen. It really made them less obtrusive and almost like a piece of art.
Of course, you can choose to sit at a table.

Of course, what we came for was the beer. This is Boulder Beer Company’s Mojo Rising on nitro. And, yes, it was as good as it looks. Another winner was the Bodega chocolate stout float, a devilish good combination of Young’s Double Chocolate Stout and a scoop of salty caramel ice cream from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
