Traveling Tuesday: Slows Bar B-Q, Detroit, MI

Another Traveling Tuesday from my recent trip to Motown. Is there anything better than beer and barbeque? There may be things as good, but I’m not sure there’s anything better. Slows Bar B-Q has become a destination for barbeque and craft beer fans in Detroit. The building was build in the 1870’s, but abandoned 100 years later during the decline of the Corktown neighborhood. The owners bought the building and renovated it in 2005 to open Slows. Nothing but craft beer on tap, and the food is fantastic.

The building is unassuming from the outside. You can't see it in this shot, but there's a covered patio area for outside dining.

The tap list is all craft beer, much of it made in Michigan

This pretty much sums up the feel of the place.

The taps at Slows Bar B-Q, Detroit
From what I picked up, the place stays busy all the time. This was one of the few times I could get a clear shot of the taps.

It's not a huge place, but it's not artificially small either. It stays packed.

Site of Tiger Stadium, Detroit
OK, it's not beer-related, but it's still cool. This is where Tiger Stadium used to be, just down the street from Slows. It's a little hard to see in this picture, but the diamond is still there. It's destined to be a park at some point.
