This week, there’s actually four beers from MadTree and they’re all barrel aged: BA Axis Mundi, BA AXIS Mundi with coffee and vanilla, BA Happy Amber and Ye Olde Battering Ram Black Barleywine. Cost varies for a 10 ounce snifter.

Wednesday, March 18th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm – Beer Tasting at Marty’s Hops and Vines

Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00 pm – New Belgium Beer Dinner at Moerlein Lager House
Reception beer – New Belgium Abby Belgium Dubbel. First course – Le Terroir Dry Hopped Sour Ale paired Tropical Gazpacho, Hamachi Crudo, Lychee Fruit. Second course – 1554 Black Lager paired with Ultimate grilled cheese. Third course – Cocoa Molé Spiced Chocolate Porter paired with Seared Foie Gras, Spiced Molé, Sour Poached Pear, Pumpkin Seeds, Queso de Cabra. Fourth course – Rampant Imperial Pale Ale paired with Bangers and Mash. Dessert – Portage Porter paired with Goat Cheese Cheesecake. Cost is $55 plus tax and gratuity. Seating is limited. The usual twenty pounds of bacon plus Jolly Pumpkin Saison X AND a portion of the proceeds from sales of all Ei8ht Ball Brewing beers sold that day will be donated to ArtsWave.

Friday, March 20th at 5:30 pm – Beer and Wine Tasting at Everything’s d’ Vine
$10 per person to taste five beers and four wines. $5 to taste just beer or just wine.

Friday, March 20th from 6:00-7:00 pm – Friday Night Flights Beer Tasting at Party Town in Florence

Saturday, March 21st from 5:00-8:00pm – Beer Tasting at Ludlow Wines
The cost to taste four beers is $6.00 per person.

  1. My ignorance is showing but… What does this phrase mean: “Dogfish Head 60 Minute run through the Randall with whole leaf hops.”?

    1. Nobody’s born knowing this stuff. It’s relatively inside baseball. Dogfish Head 60 is the beer. Hops are typically dried into pellets because they degrade quickly. Whole leaf Hops have to be used quickly. A Randall is basically an infuser that sits between the keg and your glass. It’s filled with hops and the beer is forced through it. Dogfish Head popularized them and gave it the name. Nothing intuitive about it.
